What makes a novel a classic?

There are many different elements that make up a novel then there are more that make up a classic. A novel should have a creative and interesting plot with either familiar settings with a twist or unusual settings so to not to bore the audience with normality. A classic usually tells a story that many can relate to and has great vocabulary. A classic should also incorporate many different elements of literature and the plot will be always able to be "converted" into modern settings and characters. Finally, the characters should be unique and creative.
